Dec. 7, 2017 - What a nice thing to wake up to :) . I was talking to Ms. Joan, the Librarian of BAIS on Friday night and she shared this news to me. And I felt the same excitement now that I have seen a 'copy'. I am most happy not particularly because our advocacy was featured but because their paper won as best school paper in the whole of Kalinga with this edition (best in news casting, best i...n layouting among others).
She also shared to me how the books we gave them changed the daily routine of the students of BAIS (Balbalan Agricultural and Industrial High School). Reading has become like a race among the students. When somebody borrows a book that another student wanted, he/she would follow around that classmate to make sure he/she is right behind her/him when he/she returns the book. I was so amused listening to her excited voice. So I want to share it all to you. This kind of stories fuel us to keep going. Just like the teacher of Gawidan ES who recently received books from us said "These children are very happy and excited to read these good books. May their smiles serve as medicine for your hardwork and sacrifices." So no matter how much time, energy, effort and resources this advocacy takes, if this is the kind of stories we get back, you are assured we (GRH and all its supporters) will keep going, for the love of the children of our beloved Motherland. Thank you again to all the partners of GRH here in Canada, US and back home in Nueva Ecija and Kalinga. Keep that love and compassion burning in you. One child at a time, one school at a time, we are indeed making a difference
